Janie been with Baird Macgregor for 20 years and has developed an in-depth knowledge of the unique risk and exposures relating to the Healthcare sector. Her insight and ability to strategize towards the future coupled with her knowledge of the market place and products has proven invaluable in meeting the diverse insurance needs of this unique sector.

Diane Lefebvre, HBSc, CIP, AVP, Claims Analyst, Encon Insurance Mangers Inc.

Diane joined ENCON in May 2015 as a claims analysis in the Special Risks department.  She manages error and omissions and CGL claims.  Diane worked as a nurse before returning to school and graduating from the University of Waterloo with an Honours BSc. in Applied Health Science.   Diane brings with her 20 years of insurance experience ranging from Health Professional Liability, CGL, Commercial and Personal Property, Automobile, Transport, Cargo, and more.  At ENCON Diane manages a large variety of professional liability claims including Nursing, Occupational Therapists, Health Care Workers, Pharmacists, Insurance Brokers,  Disciplinary Matters as well as CGL claims. 

Renée A. Kopp, B. A. (Hons.), LL.B., Partner, Jones Litigation Counsel LLP

Renée was called to the Bar in 1999.  She is a partner with the boutique litigation firm Jones Litigation Counsel LLP in Toronto where her practice is focused on civil litigation and administrative law.   She has broad experience in the health law sector, having represented professionals of virtually every regulated health discipline either in complaint and disciplinary proceedings before their College or in the defence of a civil law suit.   Renée has also represented numerous health organizations, long term care facilities, nursing care agencies and service providers.  Renée is a regular speaker at seminars and conferences for health and insurance industry clients, as well as professional associations such as the RPNAO and the legal community.  



Career Development

Course Description: The Career Development webinar series was developed to provide support for RPNs developing, enhancing, and advancing their careers. It is beneficial that participants take part in all three webinars. Developing your career with available resources is beneficial in helping you succeed in reaching your goals. 

Prerequisites: Participants must have access to a computer, and a hardwired internet connection (not wireless) and basic computer skills to participate in the webinars via Go to Webinars. Participants will be required to use a Google Chrome browser to ensure the best audio and visual quality. Participants are required to review the corresponding modules on the RPNAO website for Career Directions, Mentorship, and Interviewing. It is also required to complete the activities for each module. 
Program Delivery: The program consists of six separate webinars. Each webinar is 45 minutes and is held via Go to Webinars from 1200 - 1245 on the set dates.

Course Description: The De-escalation series was developed to provide support for RPNs for early recognition of behaviors that can result in a potential conflict situation and to provide participants with non-verbal and verbal techniques to manage these behaviors.

Overview: The De-escalation series is designed to provide learners with support in recognizing behaviors that can potentially escalate and ways to safely de-escalate a situation. Live webinars require registration and are interactive to provide more content. However, for your convenience, they have been converted to self-directed learning module where registration is not necessary. Please view the modules at your leisure and successfully complete the quiz to receive your completion certificate.
