The Registered Practical Nurses Association of Ontario is pleased to announce the Health Promotion Program offered as a three-course eLearning program or a three-day workshop! Three-day workshop offered March 3-5, 2014.


Achieve your professional development goals conveniently from home! All you need is a computer! With no set classroom times you can access the course anytime that fits in your schedule!

Primary Care education for RPNs is supported by special funding from the MOHLTC specifically for RPNs working in PRIMARY CARE SETTINGS.

E-Learning courses and workshop are both eligible for the Special NEI Primary Care Funding

Introduction to Leadership – Winter 2014

Overview: The Introduction to Leadership course is designed for RPNs to provide education and tools that develop leadership skills. The program is offered through the RPNAO online learning system which allows participants to access the course at their convenience. Critical examination of leadership in nursing, system structure, policy making process and change management to increase leadership at the individual LPN/RPN level. Leadership theories and the role of nurses in the health care system are examined, focusing on the role of the practical nurse.

Program length & delivery: The program is an 8 week eLearning program starting January 2nd (Week One) and ending week of February 17th (Week Eight). All course content is online and no materials are sent to participants.

Prerequisites: Participants must have access to a computer and basic computer skills to participate in the electronic class discussions.

Patient Centred Care - Winter 2014

Overview: The Patient Centred Care course is designed for RPNs to provide education and tools that increase awareness of the individual’s role in providing patient centred care. The program is offered through the RPNAO online learning system which allows participants to access the course at their convenience. Critical examination of patient centred care at the system and individual LPN/RPN levels to increase the understanding of patient centred care. The role of nurses and other health care providers in patient centred care is examined in detail.

Program length & delivery: The program is an 8 week eLearning program starting January 2nd (Week One) and ending week of February 17th (Week Eight). All course content is online and no materials are sent to participants.

Health Coaching - NEW for 2014!


Overview: The Health Coaching course is designed to educate RPNs about specific coaching applications focused on engaging clients in their care. The program is offered through the RPNAO online learning system which allows participants to access the course at their convenience. Critical examination of patient centred care at the system and individual LPN/RPN levels to increase the understanding of patient centred care. The role of nurses and other health care providers in patient centred care is examined in detail.

Program length & delivery: The program is a 6 week eLearning program starting February 17th (Week 1) and ending March 24th (Week 6). All course content is online and no materials are sent to participants.

Prerequisites: Participants must have access to a computer and basic computer skills to participate in the electronic class discussions.
